Airfield appoints former Laurèl designer as new head of design

Austrian womenswear brand Airfield has appointed Andreas Angerer as its new head of design. Previously senior designer for German label Laurèl, he comes with over 25 years’ experience  with internationally renowned fashion companies such as Cymbeline, Cerruti and Ralph Lauren.

Angerer will be working with senior designer Philipp Liftinger to rebuild the brand’s DNA. They will be striving to reinforce the brand’s core strength by focusing again on its signature outerwear.

“We are very pleased to welcome Andreas Angerer to our company,” says CEO Walter Moser. “His exceptional talent and international experience will play a key role in expanding our successful brand.”

He adds: “As a brand, we have to move away from ‘comparability’. We realised we need to focus more on the standout pieces and look after every individual style.”

Angerer is working on a new brand strategy for the AW18 collection consisting of 200 standout pieces with four delivery dates. He will also join forces with fabric manufacturer Mahlia Kent for the second season, which is known for its luxury tweed and unique fabrics.

In addition, Vicki Bieber has been appointed as director of international business development to grow the Airfield’s sales department.
