Great Plains is no longer trading after announcing its imminent closure online. The popular British womenswear brand, which launched in 1989 as part of the French Connection Group, has supplied UK womenswear boutiques for over 35 years.
Several independent retail owners and shoppers have expressed disappointment that its products will no longer be available: “It has been such a big part of our life for the past 35 years,” commented Frock Shop in Lymington on Instagram. “We wouldn’t be where we are today without this brand.”
Dee Cheasley, owner of Dressed by Dee in West Malling, added: “It’s a sad day as we bid farewell to Great Plains clothing. It’s been such a popular brand for us and we are sad that their journey has ended.”
Great Plains first launched as a diffusion line of French Connection offering an accessible range of modern everyday clothing. Throughout the 1990s it grew in popularity, becoming known for its commitment to high-quality fabrics and timeless designs that merged fashion with functionality.
The brand is reportedly no longer working with boutiques or accepting B2C orders from online shoppers, however its customer service team can still be contacted via mailorder@greatplains.co.uk and 0333 400 7227.
