Broadcaster and newsreader Emily Maitlis is joining some of Britain’s leading celebrity entrepreneurs and other small business owners for Ingenious Britain Live, the Festival of Small Business, in Birmingham this September.
Maitlis will host panel discussions at the event, which is being staged in partnership with Western Business Solutions, with other confirmed speakers including businesswoman and model, Caprice Bourret, who runs her own lingerie and intimates brand, By Caprice Products.
She will be joined by Jo Fairley, co-founder of Green & Black’s chocolate, who will talk on brand creation and development, as well as Wil King, founder of King of Shaves, Graham Corfield, UK managing director of Just-Eat.co.uk and champion of SME’s, and Sara Murray, founder of price comparison site Confused.com. Murray is also a member of the British Government’s Technology Strategy Board and Seedcamp, an organisation founded to jumpstart the entrepreneurial community in the UK and Europe.
The event, which takes place 4-5th September, will feature these inspirational guest speakers on an open stage area, a ticket only theatre, numerous themed presentations and with virtual presentations on a giant projection screen.
There will also be practical drop-in advice villages and training sessions covering critical small business issues ranging from tax advice and exporting to new markets, as well as exciting opportunities in the e-commerce arena.
“The whole look and feel of the event, not least in the choice of venue and speakers, will be very different from a conventional business conference or exhibition,” explains Marlon Wolff, CEO of Ingenious Britain. “The whole purpose is to take the Ingenious Britain concept of small business collaboration on the road, to get larger businesses and small businesses working together and to provide a forum for business owners to get practical tools and advice to help them grow and sustain their businesses,” he adds.
