Celtic and Co receives second Queen’s Awards for Enterprise following outstanding international growth

Newquay-based fashion lifestyle brand Celtic and Co has been chosen for the prestigious Queen’s Awards for Enterprise for the second time, having also received the accolade in 2018.

The company, which has been trading for 30 years, has been recognised for its outstanding growth in International Trade. This follows steep year-on-year expansion in its overseas sales for the past three years.

Co-founder Kath Whitworth comments: “Currently our business model is to run all overseas operations from our UK-based head office in Cornwall. We utilise the knowledge and experience of our logistics partners to ensure that we are exporting goods in the most efficient and cost effective way. By operating in this way we’re keeping employment opportunity and supplier partnerships in the UK and supporting our local economy.”

Co-founder Nick Whitworth adds: “To receive a second Queen’s Award has to be one of our most memorable achievements. It is a real credit to all of our hardworking staff who should all feel justifiably proud. A Queen’s award is one of the most prestigious business awards in Britain and could only be achieved not just by all of us here, but also because of all the contributions from suppliers and our customers.”

Celtic and Co specialises in womenswear, menswear and homewares made from natural fibres. This includes its signature sheepskin boots and slippers, which it still crafts by hand from its workshop in Cornwall. Its premium products are highly popular in the US, Australia and Canada, but it also receives regular orders from far-flung countries such as Sri Lanka, Venezuela and Kazakhstan.
