George at Asda creator launches indie-friendly womenswear brand in UK  

George William Davies, the designer behind George at Asda, is bringing his independent clothing brand GWD to the UK.

The label combines feminine occasionwear and smart-casual dresses and separates. Buyers can expect fine details such as embellishments, intricate lace and elegant trims alongside bold prints and vibrant colourways.

Having gained an international following since its initial launch in 2020, the label is currently trading “well above expectations” in over 30 stores with “significant demand” in the Middle East and around the world. Last year also saw the launch of childrenswear brand GWD, which offers clothing for boys and girls aged six months to 16 years.  

GWD is currently looking for retail partner stockists for AW23 while it will launch its own standalone B2C e-commerce site in September 2023. Standout pieces in its new season collection include body-con dresses, velvet jumpsuits and sparkling co-ordinates.

Well-known in the fashion retail world, George William Davies has been behind numerous ground-breaking high street brands including Next, Per Una and George at Asda.
