Last week, HRH The Princess Royal, president of the UK Fashion and Textile Association, visited the Zatchels factory at its Charter Street factory in Leicester.
During the visit, HRH The Princess Royal undertook a tour of the factory, met with Zatchels’ joint founders and co-owners Mr Dean Clarke and Mr Brian Brady and was introduced to Zatchels employees and key suppliers. The tour concluded with the unveiling of a commemorative plaque.
In her role as President of UKFT, HRH The Princess Royal made two visits in 2014 to UK fashion and textile members, which made this Zatchels visit an important part of UKFT’s event calendar this year.
Mr Paul Alger, director of international business development at UKFT said: “Our President is extremely interested in the success of the UK fashion and textile manufacturing sector. She is a particularly strong supporter of small and medium sized enterprises, especially those manufacturing in the UK, such as Zatchels. This visit is part of our “Let’s Make It Here” campaign.
“The company is enjoying continued retail expansion, employs local and highly skilled craft and leather workers in the making of Zatchels products and is building a healthy export market. This is exactly the kind of commitment to niche UK manufacturing I believe Her Royal Highness was keen to see.”
