A new online shopping platform has launched with an aim to champion, empower and nurture young fashion and lifestyle designers in Britain.
SODS – Students of Design – is the brainchild of three young business women, Lindy Staadecker, Anoesjcka Gianotti and Michelle Parekh and will launch during Fashion Week later this spring. Combining experience in fashion, design and business, the trio developed the multi-distribution and marketing platform to connect student designers with a worldwide audience of consumers and industry buyers.
The new ‘home of design’ will act as a tool to both sell and exhibit the designers’ works, enabling them to start or enhance their own design-related business, learn from industry professionals and meet with buyers. With no set-up cost to student designers on board, the site aims to set emerging businesses up for positive growth and create an income revenue stream to help students fund their studies and practice their skills.
The site will also act as a base where young designers can collaborate and be introduced to professionals working in exhibition, event management, surface design and other creative industries. SODS will also manage sales and the backend of the business, as well as act as the agent for their designers should they need representation.
