Italian brand Wushu Ruyi has launched a special edition of its iconic sneaker for AW23.
The One trainer, which is available now for independent stockists in the UK and ROI, features a cool re-working of the brand’s renowned design with a re-sized embroidered logo and choice of 11 colour combinations.
Known for its cool shapes and vibrant palette, Wushu Ruyi is working with UK agency Auburn Collective to supply indie retailers in the UK and Ireland. Following a soft launch in 2022/2023, its trainers are now being stocked by range of retailers with plans to double its presence over the next 12 months.
This summer has also seen the collection making waves among celebrities and stylists, with BBC star Julia Bradbury and influencers including Erica Davies wearing its creations.
Founded by Italian brothers Walter and Paolo Lorini in 1985, the brand is a cult classic in Europe known for its cool sports-inspired designs and vibrant colour palette. Currently, it is stocked in more than 800 stores across 30 territories.
Mauro Di Liddo, CEO of Blackboard Group, the Milan-based company that owns Wushu Ruyi, says the brand is now enjoying making its mark in the UK and Ireland too: “We are really excited to be here – and to see the positive response we have received so far.
“The One feels like something special – a chance to show our contemporary design flair and celebrate our history.
“The UK and Ireland are important footwear retail markets and there is a sense of heritage and individuality here that fits perfectly with our brand.”
Auburn Collective’s founding director, Tanya Boyten, says she’s seen a brilliant response to the brand so far: “The trainers are gaining a cult following – we’ve seen them popping up on the feet of cool people at events and festivals throughout the summer – so we’re excited to see what the rest of the year brings.”
