Ethical brand Monkee Genes has boosted its eco credentials with a new partnership with animal rights campaigner PETA.
The UK label, which was the first denim specialist to be certified by the Soil Association, has promised to forgo the use of leather patches across all its products in favour of animal-free, coated recycled cardboard versions. And to celebrate, the brand has produced a limited edition patch carrying the PETA-approved Vegan logo, which will start to appear on its jeans from next week.
“Monkee Genes is at the head of the pack when it comes to offering products that are as kind to the Earth as they are to animals”, says PETA UK’s associate director Mimi Bekhechi. “The ‘PETA-Approved Vegan’ logo on the back of the new Monkee Genes jeans will let style-minded, eco-conscious consumers know that no animals were hurt or killed in the production of its trousers.”
