Having grown up surfing on the east coast of Australia and since travelled the world, Australian-Italian designer Nikki De Marchi is well versed in the requirements for luxury beachwear. Since launching in 2013, her eponymous brand has become known for its feminine and elegant aesthetic, with a touch of Aussie cool.
The SS16 collection, Showgirl, is inspired by the ballet at the Opera Garnier in Paris. The brightly coloured ceiling painted by artist Marc Chagall sparked the design process, with colourful Parisian dancing girls – from Degas’ elegant ballerinas to the famous Folies Bergere and Lido dancers that still perform at the venue today – the muses for a collection of chic bikinis and one-pieces in bold colours with geometric prints.
Attention to detail is key to the London-based label, with flattering cuts in luxuriously thick fabric featuring immaculate stitching and jewel-like heart shape embellishments designed especially for the collection. Many of the styles are also fully reversible, while tops and bottoms are sold separately to mix and match, offering versatility for buyers and holiday-makers alike.
The debut collection drops in March.
