Shoppers now have the chance to own part of Carnaby Street’s iconic history by purchasing a butterfly from its recent Christmas lights campaign. Shaftesbury, owner of the retail destination, has announced it is selling off the decorations to help raise funds for humanitarian aid in Ukraine.
Arguably London’s most famous shopping street, Carnaby was decorated with 600 neon butterflies last year as part of its Kaleidoscope theme. The decorations will be available to buy from £5 each at 3 Carnaby Street on 10 – 11 March, with all proceeds going to charity partner Choose Love.

Simon Quayle, executive director at Shaftesbury, comments: “This is a great opportunity for visitors to take away a piece of Carnaby history in return for a donation to Choose Love. We are delighted to support Choose Love who are working hard to raise funds for humanitarian aid in Ukraine and are helping to support refugees worldwide who need crucial lifesaving funds.”
Philli Boyle, director of partnerships at Choose Love, adds: “We are over the moon that the beautiful Carnaby butterflies are going to lovely new homes and it’s even more special that everything shoppers spend on them will be donated to us! It’s still winter time and the conditions in the places we are working are really tough. Choose Love has raised millions to support refugees and created a movement of people putting love into action around the world and are working to raise funds for humanitarian aid in Ukraine. This support will be a huge help. Thank you so much to our Carnaby family for always choosing love!”
