The People 1st Apprenticeship Awards are now open for entries

Do you know an apprentice or mentor that deserves recognition for their outstanding achievements? Would you like to recognise the work of employers or a great partnership that is bringing considerable benefits to apprentices?

Nominations are now open for the People 1st Apprenticeship Awards 2014/2015. The awards will celebrate the achievements of apprentices, employers, providers and mentors in the hospitality, passenger transport, retail and travel industries.

Simon Tarr, People 1st managing director, said: “After two successful years of running the Apprenticeship Awards for the hospitality industry in partnership with the Hospitality Guild, we are delighted this year to extend the event to celebrate excellence in apprenticeship delivery across the visitor economy; encompassing the hospitality, passenger transport, retail and travel industries.”

There are 12 categories in total:

  • Hospitality Intermediate Apprentice of the Year
  • Hospitality Advance Apprentice of the Year
  • Passenger Transport Intermediate Apprentice of the Year
  • Passenger Transport Advance Apprentice of the Year
  • Retail Intermediate Apprentice of the Year
  • Retail Advance Apprentice of the Year
  • Travel Intermediate Apprentice of the Year
  • Travel Advance Apprentice of the Year
  • SME Employer of the Year (less than 250 employees)
  • Large Employer of the Year (more than 250 employees)
  • Mentor of the Year
  • Partnership of the Year

Tarr added: “With People 1st managing trailblazers across the sector, supporting the government’s commitment to increasing the quality of apprenticeships through new employer driven standards, this is a perfect time to celebrate those who show real commitment and dedication to apprenticeship delivery in our sector.

“Our research shows the benefits that apprenticeships bring to individuals, employers and the wider economy and highlights that investing in apprentices will head off future recruitment and retention issues. There can be no better time to celebrate our apprentices and we encourage all employers and training providers in customer facing industries to get involved!”

Closing date for entries is Friday 19th December 2014.

Applications will be shortlisted by a team of industry experts. The winners will be announced at an exclusive event at the House of Commons in London on 26 February 2015.
