London label Sahara has been collaborating with craftspeople from around the world for 30 years to create ethically conscious clothing. With a unique signature style that combines relaxed silhouettes with quirky detailing, innovative cuts and textured fabrics, each collection is based on founder Suzy Coppersmith-Heaven’s wish to create an individual look that’s not available on the high street.
Sahara’s collections are designed for creative, free-spirited women that want to find something unique for their wardrobes. And with this in mind, they combine artisan fabrics with innovative cuts, contemporary silhouettes and quirky detailing.
For AW14, the label’s design team has combined a vivid palette of warm autumnal tones with softly textured jerseys, luxurious mohair blends and rich, moody floral prints. The collection features a series of wardrobe essentials crafted with Sahara’s effortless styling in relaxed, easy silhouettes.
Nehru collar shirts in brushed jersey work over contemporary bubble trousers and draped harems in classic tones of navy and charcoal grey peppered with contrasting berry tones and warm hues of rust and burnt orange. Sahara’s signature bubble dresses have been updated in lightweight jerseys in bold stripes while earthy floral prints and textured woven fabrics feature intricately cut geometric designs.
Key to the collection is a truly luxurious mohair cocoon coat in a beautifully soft navy and ice blue check, which is perfect for layering over a lightweight knit for the autumn. For the colder winter months there are sumptuous devoré velvets in bold Art Nouveau-inspired floral designs and dramatic Asian inspired velvet evening coats.
With a focus on supporting British garment making, almost half of Sahara’s AW14 collection is manufactured in the UK.
Wholesale prices range from £30 to £70 while the minimum order requirement is £3,000.
