Scotland Re:Designed pop-up boosts young fashion talent on Small Business Saturday

Edinburgh’s premier shopping centre, Ocean Terminal, recently hosted a pop-up department store to shine the spotlight on the collections of young Scottish fashion and design talent.

Named Limited Edition, the unique retail initiative was masterminded by Scotland Re:Designed, a platform from which Scottish fashion and textile designers can establish their brand. It opened on 1st November and will stock cutting-edge womenswear, menswear, kidswear, homewares and accessories for three months, finishing up on 31st January.

The launch also coincided with Small Business Saturday, landing on the store’s first weekend of business, and the success of the day saw a 97 per cent sales increase from previous Saturday, directly benefiting the 21 young designers stocked in the store.

Cathy Owen, Scotland Re:Designed’s project manager, said of the achievement: “We’re delighted for the designers; it really shows how supportive the community can be and it is such a great confidence boost for these young business people.  Hopefully the buying public will continue to see the importance of quality and provenance and the positive impact this can have on the whole country.”
