Shanghai Fashion Week holds interactive business forum in London

This September, London played host to an interactive forum organised by Shanghai Fashion Week to encourage and facilitate ongoing fashion collaboration between the UK and China.

Entitled Shanghai-London, an Urban Tale of Fashion and Creativity, the forum was held at the Hospital Club in Covent Garden in partnership with London-based marketing consultancy, ACTIVE Anglo Chinese Communications, and was designed to promote and discuss the creative and fashion industries in Shanghai.

Fashion curator and author of ‘Fashion China’, Gemma A. Williams, moderated for an audience of more than 100 fashion industry professionals and opinion leaders in attendance to discover Chinese brands and gain insight into the Shanghai’s creative and retail industries from both a local and international perspective.

The seminar panel comprised of successful senior fashion and creative executives and entrepreneurs from leading Chinese organisations including  Justin Peng, CEO of Dongliang China; Jane Wang, vice president of Erdos Holding Group and founder of 1436; José Neves, founder & CEO of Farfetch; and Patrik Schumacher, partner at Zaha Hadid Architects and founding director at the AA Design Research Lab.

The forum was followed by a 30-minute Q&A session and a networking opportunity for establishing fashion and creative links through business exchange and collaboration.

“We are delighted that the forum provided a greater understanding of the fashion and creative scene in the city of Shanghai and China,” says Lv Xiaolei, deputy secretary general of Shanghai Fashion Week Organising Committee. “We aimed to communicate Shanghai’s ambition to become a key player on the international stage for the fashion and creative industries in general.”
