New global data reveals steady rise in online fashion and apparel sales

Signifyd’s weekly Ecommerce Pulse reveals that global e-commerce sales of Fashion, Apparel and Luggage sales are improving. The category grew by 12 per cent week-on-week in the seven days to Monday 4 May 2020.

Signifyd’s weekly Ecommerce Pulse represents transactional and behavioural data from 10,000 merchants in over 100 countries.

Fashion, Apparel and Luggage sales fells by 32 per cent during the first month of the pandemic. But as lockdown restrictions begin to relax in Europe, sales have been rising. A fortnight ago saw a rise of 38 per cent – which, when added to this week, takes the category up 23 per cent overall.

Elsewhere, Luxury Goods sales are also increasing. Just a month ago, the category was down by 24 per cent. But a strong April has pushed the premium sector up 37 per cent since the last week of February.

Meanwhile, Beauty and Cosmetics  sales have risen by 15 per cent since late February, having recovered from a 24 per cent drop in transactions at the start of the pandemic.

Overall, e-commerce sales were up by 10 per cent for all categories.

The Weekly E-commerce Pulse represents weekly trends across the Signifyd Commerce Network. It encompasses transactional and behavioural data across 10,000+ merchants and 100+ countries. Approximately 45 per cent of the transactions are from the US, 35 per cent are from Europe and the balance is from the rest of the world.
