Fancy seeing your boutique on the TV? Sky’s SME100 support scheme could make that dream a reality

A new £1 million support fund is launching today to help small businesses emerge from the coronavirus crisis. Sky’s SME100 support scheme will award 100 businesses with television advertising campaigns via Sky’s AdSmart, which allows smaller companies to target local audiences on mainstream channels.

Sky’s SME100 support scheme is open to any UK-based firm with 2-50 full-time employees  trading for at least 12 months. Business owners can nominate their own company or be put forward by their customers. Sky Media is also encouraging viewers to highlight the businesses in their local area that need support during this time – especially when screen time has increased significantly. An internal panel will select the winning entries from across the UK.

What’s on offer?

The chosen small businesses will work with local creative agencies in partnership with Shutterstock to create a 30-second advert. The campaigns will run for one month across 100+ AdSmartable Channels, with a value of £10,000 each. Each advert will be ready for broadcast by 31 July 2020.

“Businesses up and down the country are facing some of the hardest trading conditions in recent memory,” say AdSmart director David Sanderson. “We want to help our nation’s SMEs where possible by giving access to highly relevant audiences via AdSmart totally for free.

“SMEs are the lifeblood of our economy, making up 99.9 per cent of all business in the UK. We know that although there are economic slowdowns, people are still spending money. We want to help brands connect to these audiences. This initiative is about giving businesses confidence in advertising and their ability to succeed no matter the situation.”

Small Business Minister Paul Scully adds: “This government is fully committed to supporting SMEs through this challenging time. This includes £12.3 billion in grants and £50,000 in 100 per cent government guaranteed Bounce Back Loans . However, we all have a role to play in the national response to COVID-19. I welcome Sky’s announcement today, releasing a £1 million AdSmart fund to provide SMEs with free TV advertising campaigns.”
