Spanish retail chain, El Corte Ingles, recently enlisted the star appeal of actor, Antonio Banderas, to switch on the new digital canvas at its Málaga location.
The industry-leading display was created by audio-vision expert, Daktronics, and is the largest digital canvas in the Andalucia region of Spain, second only to the first digital façade erected by El Cortes Inglés at their Callao location in Madrid earlier this year.
The Magala installation measures 9.88 metres high by 13.9 metres wide and features a 13HD pixel layout, prime technology for cutting through direct sunlight. The new LED display will not only be promoting the brands sold within the El Corte Inglés, but also cultural events, activities and experiences within the city itself.
The original installation at Callao, measuring 18.29 metres high by 10.61 metres wide, is seamlessly angled to wrap around the building and is also one of the largest video displays in Europe. The display includes a seamless angle that provides impressive viewing perspectives and shows vibrant images with excellent contrast.
Both displays incorporate industry-leading environmental protection for longer lifetimes in outdoor environments.
“El Corte Inglés of Málaga offers one of the best possible locations, in one of the cities with greatest activity in the South of Spain,” said Ivan Del Rio, Daktronics Spain regional manager. “The surprise was kept until the very last minute, and when Antonio Banderas turned the display on, the high quality of it in this application became obvious. We are very proud of this new project.”
