Stamford lifestyle indie Iris and Violet expands with opening of second boutique in Cambridge

Stamford-based lifestyle independent Iris and Violet is expanding its bricks-and-mortar business with the opening of a second store in Cambridge. The boutique, which opened its first physical shop in the affluent Lincolnshire town in 2019, has seen its business flourish over the past two years despite the lockdowns and pandemic.

Earlier this year the boutique was named one of the Top 50 Independents in the UK by Grazia magazine, which helped to drive awareness nationally and increase its e-commerce sales. During the lockdowns shoppers were able to choose click-and-collect or home delivery options from its website (, maintaining business growth while its physical store was closed. Key products include pretty floral dresses, cosy knitwear, cushions, candles, baskets and lamps while it also sells jewellery, socks, bags, hair accessories and stationery.

The new Cambridge store opened its doors last month located in St Mary’s Passage just off the Market Place. Selling a range of exclusive independent fashion brands, accessories, homewares and gifting, at accessible price points, its customers can choose to buy both via e-commerce and bricks-and-mortar. The store stocks a host of independent fashion labels not sold elsewhere locally, with carefully curated clothing from brands such as Y.A.S, Pieces, Grace and Mila and Parisian label, FRNCH.

The boutique was founded by former fashion buyer Bethany Scott-Morris, who has drawn on over a decade of experience working in the fashion industry to bring something new and unique to both Cambridge residents and tourists. “I’m so excited to be launching Iris and Violet in Cambridge,” she says. “It’s amazing to be continuing the success of our first shop in such an exciting market.”

The owner adds: “We can often have different generations on a shopping trip, and they can all find something. Our brand mix appeals to customers of all ages – from students and women in their 20s and equally to the over 70s.”

Iris and Violet stocks a beautiful selection of accessories and hand-crafted homewares to complement its clothing, which makes it the perfect place to find a gift. The stores are open seven days a week while shoppers can find slightly different edits at both locations.
