The EcoChic Design Award 2015/16 has announced the 30 emerging fashion designers that have made it though to the semi-final stage of the world’s largest sustainable fashion design competition.
Aspiring eco designers from Asia and Europe were challenged to create mainstream clothing with minimal textile waste. Of the 30 semi-finalists selected, four hail from the UK: Benjamin Benmoyal, Sara Kiani, Samson Leung and Morag Mackinnon are all currently studying at Central St Martins, while British designer Amy Ward also made it through representing Germany where she is currently studying at ESMOD.
The semi-finalists will now go through evaluation by the international judging panel which includes fashion writer, Susie Bubble and Elle China Fashion Editor, Stephanie Zhuge. Ten finalists will be selected to attend The EcoChic Design Award 2015/16 Grand Final to present their sustainable collections at HKTDC Hong Kong Fashion Week in January 2016.
