With the festive retailing season about to kick off, the UK gift market is set to be revolutionised with the launch of new digital gifting platform, Giftcloud.
The new dedicated gifting app and website is the first of its kind in the UK and will provide users with a digital ‘life hack’ to send e-gifts from a range of high street retailers and well-known brands via text, email and social media.
Developed by the creators of the UK’s most-used discount app, Vouchercloud, the new technology is set to shake up the entire gift market, in particular the £5bn gift card sector, by digitising the process.
With estimations showing that between 5-15 per cent of physical gift cards are not redeemed, the app will also prompt recipients ahead of expiration dates to help reduce the risk of gift cards going unused.
“The traditional gift card industry has long been plagued with the issue of usability – whilst they are both great gifts and incredibly popular, the fact remains that a huge amount go unused every year; wasting the money of both gift giver and recipient and failing to deliver the footfall which the stores would benefit from,” said Greg LeTocq, founder of Giftcloud.
“We wanted to create an app that would rectify this, making gifts and gift cards as easy as possible to both send and redeem. Digital gifting offers a whole new revolutionary way to reinforce a positive and modern experience for the customer in the digital age.”
Giftcloud launches with the support of a large portfolio of high-profile retail partners, including high street stores such as House of Fraser and Debenhams, along with leisure brands such as Cineworld and Virgin Experiences, and high street eateries including Starbucks and Pizza Express.
