To celebrate International Women’s Day, Boxpark Shoreditch will be offering a free, one-week residency to a female-owned fashion or retail start-up in the heart of East London.
The one-week pop-up will give the winning entrant access to their own retail space at Boxpark’s Shoreditch site, which has hosted internationally renowned fashion retailers such as Michiko Koshino and Only The Blind.
Situated in the hub of East London, the incubator space will enable a prospective new designer the chance to target Shoreditch’s buzzing, fashion crowds.
Boxpark’s initiative for International Women’s Day hopes to give a new and exciting fashion, or retail, brand a stepping stone to success. The competition comes in light of recent research which found that 46 per cent of start-ups believe there is a gender bias problem, with the women surveyed expressing that they had experienced bias at all stages of their start-up’s lifecycle.
To be in with a chance of winning, entrants should email an overview of their brand, including an explanation of why they would be a perfect fit for Shoreditch space, to E: boxpark@wcommunications.co.uk by 5 April 2018. The entry with the most unique vision will be awarded the space.
Boxpark’s dedicated retail director Agee Rose will review entries alongside her Boxpark team, with the awarded pop-up opening to the public on the 7 May 2018. She comments: “We’re proud to play host to a number of successful female-owned retail and food outlets at both our Shoreditch and Croydon sites. So, we thought what better time than International Women’s Day to offer a new, female entrepreneur the opportunity to get amazing exposure for their brand with their very own space at Boxpark. Hopefully it will be the start of something incredibly exciting for the winner and maybe we’ll even see them back here again in the future!”
