Young Ideas named among the winning independent retailers at the Boutique Star Awards 2019

Derbyshire indie group Young Ideas scooped three accolades at the first ever Boutique Star Awards, which took place in Central London on Tuesday 8 October. The premium multi-brand retailer, which operates four stores in Ashbourne, Derby city centre and Litchfield, was named Womenswear Independent of the Year and Independent Group of the Year while its countrywear specialist Henmores was named Multi-Channel Independent of the Year.

The celebratory winners’ party was held at The Deck inside London’s iconic National Theatre, offering breath-taking views of the capital’s famous skyline. Over 100 guests attended the informal ceremony where they enjoyed a Prosecco reception, entertainment from a jazz duo as well as a selection of delicious hot and cold food.

Presenter Hayley Sparkes congratulated all of the shortlisted boutiques and brands for reaching the finalist stage of the national competition. Meanwhile, publisher Julie Neill also took to the stage to thank sponsors City Goddess and Goddiva as well as all the attendees for supporting the event.

The evening’s winners also included sustainable swimwear label Naeco for British Brand of the Year, Danish footwear designer Lofina for International Brand of the Year, Capri Clothing for Fashion Distributor of the Year and Joanna Edwards Agency for Fashion Agency of the Year. Other Retailers taking home a Boutique Star Award also included Haygen for Creative VM Independent of the Year, Tilletts for Social Media Channel of the Year and Caroline Clark Bridal for Occasionwear Specialist of the Year. Two special awards chosen by the Boutique magazine team were also presented to James Lakeland for Lifetime Achievement and Nesavaali for Newcomer.

The winners were selected by an esteemed judging panel made up of industry insiders including Deryane Tadd, owner of award-winning indie The Dressing Room, Bira CEO Andrew Goodacre, Sam Burgess, founder of content marketing agency Small and Mighty, Helen Farrington, programme leader at the Fashion Retail Academy and Boutique magazine editor Gemma Ward.
