George at Asda creator George Davies has been confirmed as a keynote speaker at the upcoming edition of Pure London. Appearing on stage in an interview with former Drapers editor and FHM founder Eric Musgrave, he will discuss his career launching ground-breaking high street brands while sharing his thoughts on today’s UK fashion market.
Davies is a master of the retail world with a career that spans over four decades. Widely acknowledged as one of the most successful fashion innovators and designers of his time, he revolutionised the British high street with the launch of Next, George at Asda and Per Una at M&S. His latest venture, GWD, made its UK debut at February’s Pure London. Buyers will also be able to view the latest collection, which mixes Davies’ signature mix of occasionwear and smart-casual attire, at the show.
“We are incredibly excited to welcome such an icon of the retail industry to Pure London,” says event director Gloria Sandrucci. “Davies’ keynote will not only look back on his hugely successful career and the impact he has had on the UK fashion market, but also address the future of fashion and the challenges facing brands and retailers today. The next edition of Pure London aims to deliver many insightful conversations and we look forward to revealing more details of our content programme and fantastic line-up of speakers.”
