It’s coming home… possibly. But whether England make it to the semi-finals or fly home this weekend, one thing’s for certain: the fashion both on and off the pitch has been just as entertaining as the football. Here are five of our favourite style moments…
So many pink boots

‘Why are so many players wearing pink boots at the World Cup?‘ has become one of Google’s most searched questions. If you haven’t looked it up, the reason is down to major sportswear brands such as Adidas and Puma releasing pink footwear before the tournament as both a style choice and a way to help fans see players’ fancy footwork. Go further back and WGSN says pink is a trend that’s been emerging in menswear for a couple of years, “driven by consumers’ desire for optimism, visibility and self-expression.” It forecasted Electric Fuchsia as a key hue for SS26 back in 2024.
Spain’s Lamine Yamal in Chanel

Eighteen-year-old FC Barcelona star Lamine Yamal, already the holder of multiple ‘youngest ever’ records in international football, arrived at Spain’s training camp in head-to-toe Chanel finished with an XXL Urban Essential Shopping Tote. Iconic.
The Leopards

Social media lit up when DR Congo’s squad arrived at the World Cup in impeccably tailored black suits featuring bold leopard-print panels, gold leopard brooches and matching luggage, all created by Congolese designer Alvin Junior Mak. They may have been knocked out by England after qualifying for their first World Cup in more than five decades, but they won the style stakes by a country mile.
The French squad’s designer bags

The French national team also turned heads as soon as they touched down at the beginning of the tournament by carrying a luxurious collection of French designer handbags. Their patriotic travel line-up featured styles to make fashion fans weep, including a green suede Chanel x Pharrell XXL Flap Bag carried by Marcus Thuram and a rare Hermès Haut à Courroies (HAC) in So Black leather by Ousmane Dembélé.
WAGs, but make it fashion

We couldn’t not mention the ladies – and England’s World Cup wives and girlfriends have been serving looks in the stands throughout the tournament. Jordan Pickford’s wife Megan Pickford and Harry Kane’s wife Kate have both been spotted wearing reworked vintage football jerseys and custom-made tops by brands including Honeymoone Studio. For England’s opening game, Bukayo Saka’s fiancée Tolami Benson wore a pair of upcycled jorts featuring a frayed lion and the number 87 embroidered by Loom as a nod to Saka’s shirt number when he debuted at Arsenal.
